Mother Earth Beauty Types of Water Formations Around Us For Early Learners Nature Book for Kids Earth Sciences Children Water Books Baby Professor eBook

The book is a pretty basic book that mentions different types of water formations. It includes a sentence of definition or information about a specific land formation and then two pictures. Apparently, it is supposed to be an interactive book where you make a checkmark on the page showing the correct formation (ie the one with water in the picture) but there wasn't a way for me to click or check the circle in the e-book. Maybe that is functional in other systems, but it made it a little bit silly for us. I also could only see one page at a time. I started asking my 4 year old, "Is there a pond in this picture?" and he'd be staring really hard at a picture of a forest saying, "I don't think so. Is it behind the tree?" It was just unnecessarily confusing given this medium. It'd be fine as a printed workbook with side by side pages where you could actually check the appropriate image. I'm normally not a fan of writing in books but this one is so basic that kids probably wouldn't want to read it often, and if they did, a check mark on a page wouldn't make a big difference. (It's also not hard to tell that the marsh is not the volcano, but the image with water for example.) The water formations listed in the book are: ocean, marsh, lake, river, waterfall, pond, and swamp. It'd be nice if there were some kind of ending sentence concluding the book, but it just ends after the picture of the swamp.

I should start off by saying that I got this book for my 2, almost 3 year old daughter. She loves to learn and picks up on new words and ideas quickly. I knew this book would be a bit above her, but I figured it would be worth a shot.
I’m glad I tried it! The book format was neat and easy to navigate. For example, the first water formation was the ocean. On the left was the word, big and bold, and then on the right was a description of an ocean. The descriptions are beyond her, of course, but I easily dumbed it down (I hate that phrase, but nothing else is coming to mind at the moment). When you flip to the next page there are two pictures, one of which is an ocean. I asked her which one was an ocean and she pointed to the correct picture! Love it!
The only downfall is that it isn’t interactive (as far as I know) in that it says to put a checkmark in the circle of the correct answer, but you can’t click on it. This is minor though, sitting next to her and reading it to her I can tell her she got it right or to try again.
She had a lot of fun with this book and I am very happy with it as well. I would recommend it, even to parents of younger kids like mine. I am a big believer in early education, there is no reason not to expose children to the world around us, even if they don’t understand it all just yet. It sets the on the right path. This is a great tool for that.
I definitely plan on using more Baby Professor products!
Full disclosure I have received this product at a reduced price in exchange for an HONEST review. I take reviewing seriously (as I rely on reviews myself when purchasing products) and will only give 100% truthful feedback. I NEVER receive product in exchange for giving a favorable review. Don’t believe me? Check out my other reviews. A free product does not equal a 5 star review with me.
I have been looking for some books to read to my kids and stumbled upon this series. The first one I read was "Types of Air Around Us", which was quite disappointing. If I have to compare this book to the "Air" book (and I can compare because as part of a series they should all be similar), this is actually better.

But it is not similar, it is quite different. A different set up and style it has a different font choice (but luckily much nicer!) and much much better images! That said, I like its format it introduces the children to seven different types of water.
- OCEAN
- MARSH
- LAKE
- RIVER
- WATERFALL
- POND
- SWAMP
Each word has a brief explanation next to it, and the following page contains two images asking the child which is the correct one. The idea is very nice. Unfortunately it is not interactive (of course), so on the kindle the child can only point at the correct picture. The same page would though be more intriguing in the paperback version, because children could actually cross the right answer with a pen or pencil.

Overall this book is nicely made, but it is very short and after "swamp" the book drastically finishes with a blank white page. This is strange and not nice, it feels as if something is missing.

I actually believe that it should be FREE for . I am not saying that it is not worth $0.99, but there are so many books for which are actually more elaborated and are still free, therefore this one should be too. AND, if the kindle version corresponds exactly to the paperback version, than the paperback version is definitely overpriced at $9.42 for how small this book actually is.
